Having been exposed to these, I wanted one when I graduated from law school in 1997. Went to Stohlman in MD - they had about 10 of them, including the white top-of-the-line model I wanted. The sticker was north of 38 grand, and I told them I’d drive it home that day for about $30-31K plus tax and tags. They tried all kinds of closes, including a slightly lower price with expensive dealer financing, but I had my own. I wound up walking out and bought a ‘97 Taurus SHO the next day.
I drove by their lot maybe 6 months later, and they still had 7 or 8 of them sitting there, although the one I would have bought was gone (probably). Still regret not getting the SVX or stepping up to a Supra.

Just today I saw a ‘92 Liquid Silver . I keep seeing a ‘92 Pearl White in my travels. It’s still top on my want list, and has been for several years now.
I enjoyed Doug’s video, though at this point, I can’t say anything he mentioned
was a surprise.

To keep a car in the city is $600 a month for starters, and I drive maybe 3 or 4 times a year at this point ... and, if I’m honest, I’d be going for a Volvo w/ maximum airbags if I had to buy a car (again, a doubtful proposition). Maybe a Polestar?

Oof, well that $600/month changes things quite a bit... I guess I’d go without a car at that point too. With prices down in the $5K range though, it wouldn’t be the worst investment to have one that you store out of the city for those 3-4 times per year, and sell it after they appreciate over the next few years. I could see them doubling to 10k over 4 years or so.
Not that there’s anything wrong with Polestars, a solid choice that are supposed to be fun and would give you all the modem amenities... But I think I'd just save the $600/mo on parking and use Turo once a month or so...

This assumes I’d have something nice enough that I’d want it in a garage, under cover (I would) as opposed to playing the park-on-the-street game. That’s before insurance, maintenance, and the rest ... and I’d use the car maybe 6 times a year.
